A2 Course > Determinants of Animal Behaviour

It is useful to make clear right from the start that the question of whether genetics or learning underlies any given behaviour is essentially meaningless. Any behaviour, however simple or complex, has an element of both inheritance and learning about it. By studying the behaviour of animals we can understand more about both evolutionary psychology and learned behaviours.
